- Cosmetic Dentistry - Veneers
|
 |
Veneer is a thin layer of restorative material usually made of porcelain. A minimal amount of tooth surface ((0.5 – 0.7 mm ~= 2/100 of an inch) is prepared. Then, a carefully designed and manufactured veneer is bonded on the prepared tooth surface. |

Botox® (scientific name is Botulinum toxin) is a type of toxins that is medically used in small amounts. It inhibits the release of neurotransmitters, thus preventing muscle movement. In dentistry. Uses and effects of Botox
Botox is highly effective for reducing wrinkles around the eyelids and muscles that are used in smiling (smile lines). About 3-6 different applications of Botox are rendered around eyelids, forehead areas, lips and neck muscles. A strong master muscle (a powerful chewing muscle), often referred to as ‘the square jaw’, can be reduced in size with applications of Botox for about one month. Even 3-4 days after the first administration of Botox, some people notice less ‘bulging-out’ of the master muscle. Botox would not affect people’s daily activities and is considered a good alternative for people with large muscle mass in the face compared to surgical reduction of the muscle.
It’s desirable to seek dental professionals’ opinion when it comes to correcting the square jaw since this is one of our specialty areas.
Length of treatment and Cost
The effect of Botox is slowly diminishing (it means the wrinkle muscles start working again) 3-4 months after the application. In about 6 months after the Botox delivery, the reduced effect of Botox is noticeable which makes reapplication of Botox is necessary. The amount of Botox used in the second or subsequent applications every 6 months are less than the initial dose and are recommended for good results. Cost is dependent on which parts of the face are treated and the length of the treatment. Please consult with your dentist.

- Dermal (Injection) Fillers
|
 |
Dermal fillers are used for wrinkles and sagging skin. There are many different types of filler materials. The most commonly used material is hyaluronic acid, which is found throughout our body. The filler stays relatively long time. The areas that can be enhanced with the use of dermal fillers include forehead wrinkles, the bridge of nose, etc. |

Correction of retruded jaw (retrognathic jaw)
Retruded jaw commonly results from the deficient growth of the lower jaw (the mandible) There are many ways to correct this but relatively less severe cases benefited from the use of fillers.
